Our Mission Statement:
As a community of Jesus Christ we are called:
To live among God's faithful people;
To hear God's Word through the Spirit and share in the Lord's Supper;
To proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed;
To serve all people, following the example of our Lord Jesus;
To strive for justice and peace in all the earth
Our Reconciling in Christ Statement:
We, the congregation at University Lutheran Church believe that God has called us to be a community of grace, compassion, acceptance, and justice. Given that God has bestowed blessings on everyone without distinction as to race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, physical and mental capability, or economic condition, we affirm the dignity and worth of all people. Therefore, we welcome everyone into our "Reconciling in Christ" congregation, as we celebrate the gifts each one brings to the life and ministry of this community of faith.
Our Greening Commitment:
University Lutheran has made a commitment to be environmentally aware and proactive in putting "greening" practices into effect at church as well as educating parishioners about what they can do in their daily lives to be good stewards of the earth's resources. ULC was awarded this "Greening Congregation" recognition by Earth Ministry in 2003.
Our Advocating Statement:
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to honor the dignity of every person and the intrisic value of every creature, to celebrate the full humanity of every child, woman, and man, and to be faithful stewards of planet Earth. As a primary expression of this vocation, we, the members of University Lutheran Church, commit to be an Advocating Congregation, and to speak to our government officials and private organizations on behalf of planet Earth and people who are marginalized or oppressed. Using letters, phone calls, or face-to-face conversations, we will strive for justice and peace for all people in our community, state, nation and the world, and for the well-being of God's creation.
